Fatal Bites, Dead City

I was in Yahoo.com.sg reading the local news. This was what i got:

A total of 98 people were admitted to hospital with suspected or confirmed dengue between 3pm on Sunday and 3pm on Monday.
This totals 386 new or suspected cases since last Thursday.
At the former Paya Lebar Community Club, a vacant land seems to be a potential breeding ground for aedes mosquitoes.

These figures are scary !!

Lately the weather in Singapore is so warm. I actually carry extra t-shirts when i go out because i sweat(yes, i really sweat, not perspire). But yet, i try to only wear bermudas and short sleeve t-shirts. So im a running fat piece of yummy meat for the mosquitoes on the run! Scary!!

Here are some facts:
Dengue fever, or West Nile fever, is a mild viral illness transmitted by mosquitos which causes fever, rashes and muscle and joint aches. Treatment includes rehydration and recovery is expected. A second exposure to the virus can result in Dengue hemorrhagic fever, a life-threatening illness.

Here are some cases:

1. I got dengue fever 5 years ago. Stayed in the hospital for 5 days.
2. My friend's dance teacher died of this
3. My friend had to cancell her europe trip & was hospitalised for 4 days. Beside her was a China Lady who also got bitten while having her holiday here.
4. Latest: My sister in law fainted in the house. Got warded for what else but Dengue Fever.

Just when HK Disneyland just opened and Ocean Park renovated, Singapore's already very dead city now has this offer. Where do we find tourists to visit us? Nothing to play, Super BAD BAD service everywhere and now Poisonous mosquitoes.

The once ,said to be, cosmopolitan asian city is NOT picking up in terms of construction, manufacturing and retail. My friends who had their salary deducted before the economy crisis did not get back the original salary. People who are slightly older are still getting laid off or retrenched from work.

No wonder everybody pull a long black face. Personally, I don't even know what to look forward in Singapore anymore.
Everybody seems so happy in Hong Kong after SARS.
Face it! We HAVE to learn from them.
Its time our government, tourism board, and singaporeans on the whole, start to eat some humble pie. Our good days are gone.

Lucky Red, Lucky Me

As mentioned previously in one of my postings, that red will bring me good luck, so i bought some red stuffs today.

1. Red Swimming Trunks from BODS. (It was on 50% discount...so i thought its reasonable for this material, cutting, and most importantly, colour)
2. Red Briefs from Jockey. In a box of 3.
3. Red converse coin pouch.

When i came back, i checked with my sister if i have won 4D and indeed i won!!
It was one of those cheap thrill...Its called I-Bet i think.
You have to pick 4 numbers and if any combination comes out, you will win.
So for Sat & Sun, i bought $4 of total bet and today, i won $3. hahaha..

Well at least i can say, i finally won 4 D !!
